Fernando Alonso moved up one position, Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will take the second row at the start
Haas pilot Nico Hulkenberg received a penalty after qualifying and lost three places on the grid Canadian Grand Prix. Also, the rider was awarded one penalty point.
The German showed the second result in the final qualifying segment. However, the investigation found that Niko exceeded the speed limit under the red flags that were hung out due to Oscar Piastri’s accident.
“The driver has just completed his fastest lap and is starting the next one. He was at the first cutoff when the red flag was shown, at which point the rider was already 1.5 seconds over his allowed delta time,” the stewards said in the report.
Hulkenberg starts from fifth position. Fernando Alonso has moved up one spot to start the Canadian Grand Prix next to qualifying winner Max Verstappen. The second row of the starting grid was made up of Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
The main race of the Canadian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, June 18. The beginning is at 21:00 Kyiv time.
