Six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez has announced he will not race the Dutch Grand Prix due to previous injuries.
At the previous championship stop in Germany, the Spaniard fell five times during the race weekend, being diagnosed with a broken finger and numerous bruises. After that he did not participate in the race, but received clearance from the medical staff for the next Grand Prix in Assen. Last Friday and Saturday, Marquez again landed in an accident.
– As you know, I arrived in Assen not 100% physically ready. Along with the sprain and broken finger, I was also diagnosed with a fractured rib which caused me a lot of pain. I woke up this morning in severe pain and after a check-up with the medical team, we decided that I had to miss the race in order to avoid a deterioration in my condition and to be able to recover in the coming weeks. Thank you all for your support,” Marquez tweeted.
Marquez, 30, started this season with a crash at the Portuguese Grand Prix, suffered a broken first pastern in his right hand and missed stages in Argentina, the United States and Spain. The Spaniard has yet to complete a race this year.
