An 18-year-old driver died during a race in Belgium

Dutch driver Dilano van ‘t Hoff has died after being involved in an accident during a Formula Regional European Championship race by Alpine at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the series press service reports.

The race, which took place on a wet track in difficult conditions, was stopped. The multi-car crash happened after Tim Tramnitz, who was in second place, lost control. According to media reports, several cars crashed into the car of 18-year-old van ‘t Hoff.

Condolences over the driver’s passing were expressed by Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

We mourn the passing of Dilano van’t Hoff. Dilano died while pursuing his dream of reaching the pinnacle of motorsport. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” quotes the Royal Races Domenicali press service.

In August 2019, French driver Antoine Hubert died on the same track during a Formula 2 race.
