“Chagin advised me to participate in the Silk Way Rally” – Chinese driver of the GAZ Raid Sport team

Chinese GAZ Raid Sport rider Ma Goje told he was advised to take part in the 2023 Silk Way Rally by project manager Vladimir Chagin.

The “Silk Way” rally will be held from July 5 to July 15 on the Kazan – Moscow route. The total distance in 2023 will be 5,248 kilometers, including 2,277 kilometers of high-speed special stages.

— How did you come up with the idea of taking part in the Silk Way Rally?

— We have been following the Silk Road for a long time, and our friends are participating in another team (the race will feature a Chinese-Russian crew as part of the KAMAZ-master team — editor’s note) And we decided to come to Russia Also. We have already been to Russia, participated in similar competitions.

– What made you choose the GAZ Reid Sport team?

– Negotiations conducted, Mr. Vladimir Chagin advised to take part in the race. And we happen to drive this car.

What is the goal of the race?

– Finish the race in Red Square safe and sound.

– Do you want to beat the crew of your compatriot Hou Hongnin from KAMAZ-master?

– Let’s see. Our goal is to take the highest place possible.

— What does the race in Russia mean to you?

We are all very interested. We want to see how such competitions are organized in Russia, to compare with what we have in China.

China has been closed for several years due to the pandemic. Now that the borders are open, are you looking forward to the return of the rally to China?

– Wait impatiently! I hope this will happen soon.

– And when will an all-Chinese team take part in the “Silk Road” in its cars?

– A difficult question, I have no answer (smile). Of course, I hope that will happen.
