More than 100 British Army troops will be brought in to provide security at the British Formula 1 Grand Prix, according to the Daily Mail.
The army will be deployed to Silverstone as part of an enhanced operation to counter Just Save Oil environmental activists.
According to the publication, the organizers of the Grand Prix “have already accepted the sabotage attempt”. The soldiers will be located in different sections of the circuit. This weekend in the stands of Silverstone should be around 480,000 spectators.
Additionally, the Grand Prix will use a facial recognition system and enhanced screening.
The British Grand Prix will take place from July 7-9. Qualifying will take place at Silverstone on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
Previously, environmental activists had organized actions at the Wimbledon tournament, the World Snooker Championship, a cricket match and the England Rugby Championship final.
