The last day of the super stage of the SMP RSKG Touring G-Drive series marked the equator of the season. The races on the Igora Drive circuit proved to be combative: the drivers have fewer and fewer opportunities to change position in the championship and the Russian Cup. None of Sunday’s six races were without contact – and some had to be suspended due to massive crashes.
Oleg Petrikovhead of Russian motorsport development program SMP Racing:
“About 5,000 spectators visited the Festival of Speed of SMP RSKG on the track of the Leningrad region. A program of shows, a tuning car competition, entertainment for children and a series of dynamic races performed by 103 drivers in class 8 cars awaited them.
On Saturday, almost all the races were held in the rain, on Sunday on dry land – there were enough brilliant events in each race. The broadcasts were produced by the channels of the group. And next week, will air review programs – don’t miss it!
SMP GT4 RUSSIA
On Sunday, two supercar races took place at the same time. Daytime recording reminded me of the drama that unfolded here a year ago. Like last time, Ilya Gorbatsky on Porsche 718 Cayman and Andrey Solukovtsev on KTM X-Bow collided. And the third car that suffered from the accident was again the Mercedes-AMG GT4, this time driven by Maxim Kizilov.
Rinat Salikhov became the race winner, Vadim Meshcheryakov won the silver medal (both in Mercedes-AMG GT4). And Denis Remenyako’s third result was overruled by the judges due to his Mercedes landing low – and the bronze went to Sergey Titarenko, who drives a Toyota Supra.
The evening race in this class passed without serious accidents – even Denis Remenyako and Vadim Meshcheryakov, who fought for the highest places, were able to continue the fight after the collision, although at the end of the back of the peloton . Anton Nemkin was also able to finish the race in a wrecked car. But the main heroes of the race were Danila Ivanov, who won, Sergey Stolyarov, who made an equally impressive breakthrough, and all the same Sergey Titarenko, whose Toyota again joined the rivals’ Mercedes.
SMP TCR RUSSIA (Touring)
Here, the main stars were the pilots who started from the back of the field. Dmitry Bragin (Cupra Leon) had enough time on lap one to move from 8th to third – and a few more to take the lead and secure another victory. Alexander Smolyar (Hyundai i30 N) won the same number of places: starting ninth, he finished the race with a silver medal. The first three winners were closed by reverse pole owner Pavel Kalmanovich, who, due to tire wear at the end of the race, was forced to slow down and let his rivals go forward. The best of the Ladakh pilots this time is Vladimir Sheshenin: at the finish, he kept his fourth starting position. But Rustam Fatkhutdinov, who finished the race in 5th place, lost points: his Audi RS3 was 4 kilos lighter than it should be, and Vladimir Atoev (Hyundai Elantra) closed the top 5.
SPORTPROTOTYPE CN
On the very first lap of Sunday’s race, a massive crash occurs, in which 3 Shortcuts, Mitjet and Legend are injured at the same time! After the race restarts, the struggle for leaders resumes – and Andrey Gromov is the first to cross the finish line. But the judges took the victory away from him for a false start – and Kirill Kirakozov became the winner, ahead of silver medalist Alexei Khairov by hundredths of a second. Alexander Dudarev – bronze medalist.
The same drivers, who drive Shortcut cars, received awards in the partner rankings of the G-Drive Cup, a brand of high-tech fuel that powers all motor racing, albeit in a different order: Alexander Dudarev became the best in the sum of two races, Kirill Kirakozov took second place, third – with Alexei Khairov.
Among the pilots of the Mitjet, this time only Semyon Kharchenko reached the finish line. The top three winners of the Legends 600 leaderboard look like this: Sergey Lapitsky, Vladimir Gorlach, Yefim Lev.
SUPER-PRODUCTION
Taking advantage of the struggle of the rivals, Maxim Turiyev (LADA Vesta) took the lead. Roman Golikov (Honda Civic) was able to defend second position against the attacks of Leonid Panfilov (LADA Vesta), who became the bronze medalist.
TOURING-LIGHT
The start of Sunday’s race was remembered by Alexey Savin’s turn, after which the drivers were able to claim leadership exclusively on the turbo-powered cars. Nikolai Karamyshev on the Audi A1 managed to take first place. Andrey Petukhov (Skoda Fabia), who was in the lead for most of the race, couldn’t fend off the decisive attack and settled for the silver medal. Bronze was won by Stas Novikov in the latest Audi A1.
S1600
The top three winners changed after the finish. Nobody disputed Daniil Kharashun’s victory, but Artem Antonov (both on Kia Rio X) lost second place due to a false start – and Timofey Buyanov (Kia Rio) got silver, and Mikhail Dralin (LADA Granta) took bronze.
SMP HISTORICAL CUP
The leaders of the fastest group 2000+ started from the back of the peloton – however, this did not prevent Vladimir Cherevanyan from VAZ-2101 from winning the race, and Dmitry Kozlov from Moskvich-408IE from becoming the second. The third this time was Andrey Artyushin on the VAZ-2101.
In the Zhiguli1600 category, Andrey Kozlov (VAZ-2105) beat Igor Shunailov (VAZ-2101) with a minimal advantage. The bronze medal went to Denis Kirillov (VAZ-2105).
