The Russian KAMAZ-master team led by Eduard Nikolaev set the best time of the fifth stage of the Silk Way rally-raid in the truck classification.
Nikolaev overcame the 226.41 kilometer special in 2 hours 15 minutes 40 seconds. The Belarusian crew of Sergei Vyazovich (MAZ-SPORTavto) finished second, 1 minute 28 seconds behind the winner. Third was Andrey Karginov (+1.37) from KAMAZ-master.
In the MTB category, the crew of Anastasia Nifontova (G‑Drive Racing), who took second place in the general classification, had to abandon the rally. The fifth stage of the category was won by Dmitry Mordkovich (2:24.28) of TEAM MARIA OPARINA, who edged Sergey Karyakin (Snag Racing Team) by 57 seconds. Roman Rusinov (G‑Drive Racing, +2.38) finished third.
In the SUVs, Vladimir Vasiliev (2:09.41) from the VRT team became the best, ahead of the crews of Andrey Rudsky (NG-Energo, +11.05) and Alexei Ignatov (GAZ Reid Sport, +17.08).
The sixth stage of the Silk Road will take place on Wednesday, the route will go from Samara to Saratov. The rally will end on July 15.
