UralMotorSport Team driver Yury Naiman has spoken of helping Belarusian Vitaly Murylev of MAZ-SPORTavto during the sixth stage of the Silk Way Rally, which took place on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the seventh stage of the race on the Saratov-Volgograd route took place. Nyman takes eighth place in the truck standings.
– The rear brakes smoke, which means they drove well. In the middle of the first special, the left rear wheel was punctured and had to be replaced. So we decided to take it slow. In the third part, something hammered in the cockpit – we slowed down again and drove calmly to the finish line.
Yesterday they helped Murylev. We saw that on the left turn it entered the swamp. The crew called for help, we arrived, started pulling them and got stuck. Then two crews dug up our truck and then we pulled out the MAZ. It took a little over an hour. Without our help, they would not have gone out and left the race, and we were one of the last trucks – only GAZ was behind us, but he would not have coped, – the correspondent reports the words of Nyman.
KAMAZ Master Pilot Dmitry Sotnikov spoke about the team’s tasks for the seventh stage.
— The first special was very fast, lots of straights. The navigation was not difficult, we tried to fine-tune it. There were several imperceptible turns that did not cause any difficulties. The second part was slower, overgrown and invisible, there was a lot of navigation, you just had to take the road carefully.
Eduard Nikolaev, Andrey Karginov and I started the second special each in our interval. When the navigation sections started, Andrey had to be taken out on the road. Once it was bypassed, then changed places. There was another difficult place, and we had to wait for Karginov’s crew, because our task was to secure it. It was the hardest and most uncomfortable for the first crew due to the large number of routes, the pace was dropping because of that,” Sotnikov said.
