At the same time, the Frenchman’s contract with Red Bull expires.
Alpha Tauri announced that Pierre Gasly will remain a team pilot until the end of the 2023 season.
The 26-year-old Frenchman will continue to play for the Red Bull subsidiary until the end of his contract with the Austrian brand.
The pilot himself made it clear that he could leave the Red Bull family if he did not get a place in the first team until the end of the contract. However, in May, Red Bull announced a contract extension for co-pilot Sergio Perez until 2024.
Pierre joined Alfa Tauri (then Toro Rosso) in 2017 and has been on the Formula 1 podium three times. In the 2020 season, Gasly got his debut victory in the Italian Grand Prix.
Japan’s Yuki Tsunoda, who made his F1 debut last year, will remain co-driver of the Alpha Tauri.
The next Formula 1 race will take place on July 3 as part of the British Grand Prix.
