The winner of the 2017 Dakar marathon rally, SNAG Racing team leader and driver Sergei Karyakin told that he will miss the 2024 race.
The 2024 Dakar will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 5 to 19.
“I’m missing the race for the same reasons as last time,” Karyakin told .
In 2022, it was announced that to participate in the Dakar, Russian athletes must fill out a form from the International Motor Sport Federation (FIA) condemning the special operation in Ukraine. has already received a letter from Karyakin addressed to the head of the FIA, Mohammed bin Sulayem, in which the pilot asks to exclude political points from the newspaper due to the fact that the document “contradicts the principles of neutrality.”
