The captain of the One Belt One Road racing team, which competes in the Silk Way rally raid, Liu Xianfeng told that he supports the suspended Russian athletes.
The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended in February to international federations not to allow Russians and Belarusians to participate in competitions due to events in Ukraine.
— For me, as well as for my Chinese friends, sport always remains outside of politics. It is necessary to distinguish between these two directions. I will always support Russian athletes, they have many followers and fans in China. And we came to Russia, especially for the experience, in order to share it with our compatriots afterwards,” Liu Xianfeng told .
The Silk Road will run from July 6 to July 16, starting in Astrakhan and ending in Moscow. The total length will be 4380 kilometers, of which 2800 kilometers will be special stages.
