On Thursday it was announced that Vladimir Chagin left his position as team leader to concentrate on the Silk Road Rally and social and political activities. Nikolaev, who arrived at KAMAZ-master in 2003, was appointed in his place.

“I am not ending my racing career after being appointed to the position of team leader,” Nikolaev told .

Chagin has been working with the KAMAZ-master team since its inception in 1988 and has been leading it for 11 years. He won the truck category of the Dakar Rally in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2011.
