Two Russian runners will take part in the 2024 Dakar Rally marathon

Russian pilot Denis Krotov and navigator Konstantin Zhiltsov, as part of the crew, will participate in the 2024 Dakar rally marathon.

The Russian crew will compete in the Ultimate category (modified and upgraded SUVs) aboard a Toyota Hilux (start number 215) as part of the Overdrive Racing team. Both athletes will start the Dakar under racing licenses from other countries: Krotov indicated Kyrgyzstan in his official application, Zhiltsov has a dash.

According to the results of the Dakar 2023, Krotov and Zhiltsov took 21st place in their ranking. For Krotov, the upcoming Dakar will be the sixth of his career, with the highest achievement being a 15th place in his first start in 2019.

Many Russians have been skipping the Dakar since 2023, when it was announced that to participate in the race they would have to fill out a form from the International Motorsport Federation (FIA) condemning the CBO.

The race will take place from January 5 to 19 in Saudi Arabia.
