Ukrainian Alexander Bondarev completed the 2023 season with a podium at the LeCont Trophy races

Last year, the driver also managed to finish on the podium at the same race immediately after an injury.

Last weekend, the annual race took place at the Spanish track Lucas Guerrero in Italy, which was organized for the third time by the Italian rubber brand LeCont. In the X30 Senior category, where Ukrainian pilot Bondarev competed, 42 professional karting drivers took part.

On Saturday there was qualifying and two qualifying hits. In qualifying, Alexander received fifth position in his group and eighth among all participants.

In the first BC Heath, Alexander spent the first few laps in a contact fight with his rivals, and the Ukrainian himself ended up ninth on the third lap. On the fifth lap, when Bondarev was seventh, two pilots collided directly in front of him. Alexander managed to react, but flew onto the grass and crashed into the barrier, ending the race prematurely.

The start in the second Heath AB was also unsuccessful: due to a collision between other pilots, Bondarev rolled back to 21st position on the first lap. Before the end of the race, the Ukrainian managed to win back 16th positions, finishing fifth. The driver took 26th place in the overall standings.

It was from this position that Alexander started in the prefinals on Sunday. The Ukrainian gained 20 positions and finished sixth. In the final, starting in 15th position, Bondarev finished second. Last year, the driver also managed to achieve a podium finish at the same race, which was the last of the season, immediately after an injury.
