A discussion on the development of the Igora Drive autodrome took place within the framework of the Day of the Leningrad region at the Russia fair

A round table on the theme: “Multiplatform and multitasking: the secret of the success of the Igora Drive circuit” was held as part of the Day of the Leningrad Region at the “Russia” exhibition and forum at VDNKh.

The event was opened by the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko. Participants in the discussion were, among others, the world, European and Asian endurance racing champion Roman Rusinov and the general director of the Igora Drive circuit Alexei Titov.

Drozdenko highlighted the extensive recreational opportunities that the autodrome offers. According to him, the complex has become the trademark of the region, a driving force for the development not only of the sporting, but also the tourist potential of the region.

There are more than 10 tracks and venues on the territory of the complex, which make it possible to organize competitions and events of different levels for the widest audience. To use the resort’s services, you don’t even need to have a license or a car. It is the only race track that allows cross-country skiing and track cross-country skiing competitions in winter. In summer, the track is open to cyclists, rollerbladers and runners.

— Our main task is to develop this multifunctionality and use it correctly. In just three and a half months of the summer season, we hosted 84 events of different levels. I would especially like to highlight the regional drift, motocross and rallycross competitions, which allow us to work with amateurs. It is the entry point into motorsport that helps amateurs get closer to the professional level,” Titov noted.

— “Igora Drive” and the racing circuit are now the best, not even in Russia, but in the world. For us to compete on such a circuit is a great honor,” Rusinov said.

According to Rusinov, to attract investments in motorsport, its popularization is necessary, because it still remains obscure and unknown to the general public. To achieve this, we need to offer more family-friendly events that present motor racing in a convenient format.

Titov concluded the round table by talking about plans for the upcoming winter season. A major winter sports festival will take place here on February 10. The sports festival will bring together two main winter sports events: the Russian Baja Rally Raid Championship “Russia – Northern Forest” and the “Russian Ski Track” race.
