Astrakhan Region Deputy Governor Oleg Knyazev summed up the results of the fourth stage of the Silk Way rally-raid in an interview with .
The “Silk Way” rally-raid will end in Moscow on July 16. The distance of the 4th stage from Astrakhan to Grozny on Sunday amounted to almost 589 kilometers, of which 344 were special stages.
“Silk Road” returned to Astrakhan a few years later. Was it difficult to get the rally and the guests?
— It was not difficult for us to find someone, because for everyone who has ever raced in the Astrakhan region, it is an honor to participate in both the Silk Road and the Championship from Russia. We have waited and prepared for this event.
– Doesn’t the greatest number of foreign participants impoverish the race?
– In any case! On the contrary, those who come from other countries see and feel the emotional charge of the participants. See what views, what filming – everything is at the highest international level! As far as I know, strangers in conversations with each other only express annoyance that everyone who wants to can’t participate this time.
Do you already have an idea for next year?
We are already loaded. The organizers have just asked the question: “Well, are we getting ready?” We will be operational from tomorrow. We see that it is necessary to improve the level of the tracks, the technical training of the participants themselves, in particular in motorcycle and buggy class. It’s serious work, real plowing – to improve every inch of the track.
I’m still on positive emotions: the day before the start, I had the chance to drive in test mode on KAMAZ in place of a mechanic. So, I realized that my experience of 40 years is next to nothing, consider that I haven’t driven at all. Guys do such pirouettes! I caught myself thinking that it’s not even scary to ride with such professionals,” Knyazev said.
