A Spanish motorcycle driver suffered cardiac arrest after a fall during the second stage of the Dakar.

Spanish motorcycle racer Carles Falcon is in serious but stable condition after an accident during the second stage of the Dakar marathon rally, which takes place in Saudi Arabia.

Dakar director David Castera said Falcon fell at the end of the stage, at the 448th kilometer of the special. Emergency services arrived on the scene 16 minutes later; At that time, the athlete was unconscious and had no pulse, but doctors managed to resuscitate him. According to the marathon rally website, Falcon was taken to Al Duwadimi Hospital.

— Carles is now in the hospital. We are carrying out examinations and scans to determine whether we will operate on him or stabilize his condition and transport him to Riyadh. We don’t have a full diagnosis yet, but his condition is stable. We brought him back to his senses, and that’s the most important thing,” Marca quoted Castera as saying.

The Dakar director added that doctors are currently concerned about possible head trauma to the driver.

“Carles hit his head on the ground, we want to see if he has any fractures,” added Castera.

The marathon rally will end on January 19.
