“A wheel slammed 15 km before the finish line. We tried, we ran, but it was very dusty. Sotnikov on the 6th stage of the Silk Road

Pilot “KAMAZ-master” Dmitry Sotnikov said the team had almost managed to avoid problems on stage six of the Silk Way Rally Marathon, adding that he had picked up “a mouthful of dust”.

Sotnikov’s crew won the marathon stage with a special of almost 485 km, posting a time of 5 hours 13 minutes 37 seconds. The second and third places were taken by fellow KAMAZ master pilots Eduard Nikolaev and Andrey Karginov.

– Everything was fine, but 15 kilometers before the finish line, the rear wheel slammed. It’s a shame, of course, everything was so clear, and we had to change, and we already saw the finish line. We tried, we ran, but it was very dusty – a mouth full of dust. It took about five minutes to change the wheel.

5 km before the finish line they saw Krotov’s crew, they also changed the wheel. We rode the second part very well, the pace was good. But, I think, the reason for this is the overheating of the wheel, perhaps many will have such problems today. It’s hot, but then we went straight and the speed got higher and higher, it reached 140 km/h,” Sotnikov told reporters.
