As it became known to , mountain bike rider Alexander Maksimov, who was the leader of the seven stages of the Silk Way Rally, suffered a fractured right shoulder blade and, after being taken to hospital in Astrakhan , refused to be hospitalized.

Maximov was injured on Thursday during the eighth stage and was evacuated to a hospital in Astrakhan. The eighth stage of the rally took place on the Elista-Volgograd course with a special of almost 444 km.

The race will end on July 16 in Moscow.
