Spanish driver Carlos Sainz Sr. of the Audi team won the overall SUV classification at the Dakar Rally.
Based on the results of 12 stages, the Spaniard showed a result of 48 hours 15 minutes and 18 seconds. Second place went to Belgian Guillaume de Mewius with a delay of 1 hour 20 minutes and 25 seconds. The leading trio was closed by the nine-time world rally champion, Frenchman Sébastien Loeb (+1:25.12), who also won the final stage of the rally raid.
Sainz, 61, won the Dakar for the fourth time in the SUV category. He had already won in 2010, 2018 and 2020.
American driver Ricky Brabec won the Dakar Rally marathon in the motorcycle category with a result of 51 hours 30 minutes and 8 seconds. In the general classification, he is ahead of the Botswanan Ross Branch (+10.53) and the Frenchman Adrien van Beveren (+12.25).
First place in the general quad classification went to Argentinian Manuel Andujar (64 hours 16 minutes and 53 seconds), who was 7 minutes and 59 seconds faster than Frenchman Alexandre Giroud. Slovakian Juraj Varga, who took third place, lost more than 4 hours to the winner.
The crew of Czech driver Martin Macik achieved the best result in the truck classification with a time of 54 hours 34 minutes and 48 seconds. He is almost 2 hours ahead of the crew of his compatriot Ales Loprais. Third place went to the Dutch crew Mitchel van den Brink (more than 4 hours behind). The KAMAZ-master team crews did not participate in the marathon rally.
