Former NASCAR driver Bobby East was killed in the US state of California, according to the Los Angeles Times .
The incident happened at a service station in Westminster on Wednesday. Arriving at the scene, officers found East stabbed in the chest. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The rider was 37 years old.
East’s murder suspect, Trent William Millsap, 27, fled the scene. Police say they have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a suspect at an Anaheim apartment. But during the operation there was a shooting, as a result of which the man died. It should be noted that Millsap has already been convicted of armed robbery.
East’s death was later confirmed by the United States Automobile Club (USAC). The runner was a three-time USAC champion.
