Verstappen wins French Grand Prix, Leclerc crashes and retires

In the fight for third place, Russell was ahead of Perez

Current world champion Max Verstappen won French Grand Prix. For the Dutch pilot Red Bull is the seventh victory this season Formula 1.

Mercedes finished second Lewis Hamilton. For the Briton, today’s Grand Prix was the 300th in his career.

The third place was taken George Russell (Mercedes), which at the end of the race overtook Sergio Perez (Red Bull). Fifth became Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) who started the race from the end of the grid after changing the engine.

Also in the top 10 French Grand Prix finished: Fernando Alonso (Alpin), Lando Norris (McLaren) Esteban Ocon (Alpin), Daniel Riccardo (McLaren) Lance Stroll (Alfa Romeo).

Qualification winner Charles Leclerc from Ferrari did not finish due to an accident. On lap 19, the Monegasque’s car flew off the track and crashed into a protective fence. Leclerc was forced to end his performance in the race ahead of schedule.

Verstappen leads the overall Formula 1 standings. Max is 63 points ahead of Leclerc.

The next Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place in Hungary on 31 July.
