Verstappen wins pole position at Chinese Grand Prix

Another Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez, will start the race in the front row.

Current world champion in Formula 1 Max Verstappen won pole for Chinese Grand Prix.

The Dutch driver showed a time of one minute and 33.66 seconds in the third qualifying stage. Second place went to another Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez, 0.322 seconds behind his teammate.

Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin took third place. Next were the two McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, followed by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz from Ferrari. The top 10 also included George Russell (Mercedes), Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) and Valtteri Bottas (Sauber).

In the individual standings for the 2024 season, Verstappen leads with 85 points, 15 points ahead of Perez and 21 ahead of Leclerc.

The main race of the Chinese Grand Prix will take place in Shanghai on Sunday, April 21. Starts at 11:00 Kyiv time.
