WWSR plans to hold alternative World and European Mountain Bike Championships

Russian Cycling Federation (FVSR) during the official website announced the holding of alternative events to the World and European Championships with the status of international mountain bike competitions.

This decision was made due to the fact that “the participation of Russian athletes in major international competitions is not possible due to the decision of the International Cycling Union (UCI), in order to motivate athletes and maintain their fitness physics in a competitive environment.”

The Federation intends to hold international starts in the disciplines “cross-country” and “short track” from August 17 to 22 in the Republic of Karachay-Cherkess and from September 12 to 15 in the Krasnodar Territory.

Russian and Belarusian athletes can only be allowed to start under the auspices of the UCI in a neutral status if they represent a professional team that is not registered under the Russian or Belarusian flag.
