The mechanic of the Russian sports team KAMAZ-master, two-time winner of the Russian Rally Raid Cup in the buggy category Igor Chagin, in an interview with , told how his father, a seven-time winner of the Dakar rally marathon, Vladimir Chagin brought gifts from the race.
Vladimir Chagin is the Dakar record holder in terms of the number of victories in the truck category, at the end of his career he took the helm of KAMAZ-master.
– Vladimir Gennadievich said that for every New Year he sends postcards from Dakar. Did you ask him to bring presents from distant Africa?
— As a child, I loved building Legos. The other day, Dad was touched, recalling my childhood, how he brought this creator to me from abroad. He told me he chooses what to spend the money on: relaxing on his own or buying Lego for his son. In the end, the choice fell on melaughing).
– Chagin had serious accidents and injuries, brilliant victories and he was not at home for months. How did you and your family feel at home watching the shows?
– My older brother Vadim, who stayed at home, away from his father, in fact, spent his entire career with him. He was born in 1989, when dad started at KAMAZ-master, and he remembers everything. He and his mother at home have all the archives of his father’s performances – recordings from television, magazines and newspapers. I was born when my father had a series of huge successes, and for me, dad was always a winner. So I didn’t see a time when they had losses. For me there is no thought that KAMAZ-master can lose.
