The Mexican violated safety measures during a race in Canada
Pilot Red Bull Sergio Perez penalized three positions on the grid Spanish Grand Prix. The Mexican was punished for violating security measures during the previous stage Formula 1 V Canada.
On lap 53, Perez spun off the track and damaged his rear wing. Sergio managed to get to the pits with a “significantly damaged car”, where he finished the race ahead of schedule.
The stewards also punished Perez’s team. Red Bull was fined $25,000.
Another Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen, won the Canadian Grand Prix. McLaren drivers Lando Norris and George Russell finished in the top 3.
Recently, Perez signed a new contract with Red Bull until the end of 2026. In the current Formula 1 season, Sergio took second place three times at stages in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Japan. In the overall standings, the Red Bull driver is in fifth position, scoring 107 points after nine Grands Prix.
The next Grand Prix of the 2024 Formula 1 season will be held in Spain on June 23.
