Minister of Sports of Russia Mikhail Degtiarev greeted the participants and spectators of the Silk Way Rally.
The first stage of the International Silk Road Rally took place in Tomsk on Friday.
— Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is confident that the Silk Road 2024 will become a significant event in the world sports calendar and will contribute to the development of international humanitarian cooperation and business and personal contacts.
Over the 15 years of the rally’s existence, its participants have conquered almost all of Eurasia, from St. Petersburg to ancient Xi’an in China. 1,215 crews from 53 countries, 60 cities, 62,626 kilometers of difficult trails.
Nearly 200 athletes and specialists from 13 countries participating in the Silk Road 2024 will have to cover more than 5,000 kilometers across the territory of two countries through steppes and deserts, taiga off-road and high plateaus. In such extreme conditions, the sense of community, mutual assistance and competence are especially important.
I would like to express special words of gratitude to the leaders of the regions through whose territory the rally route passes. And of course we will support our people!
I was glad to personally meet the crews before the start of the rally. “I wished the athletes self-confidence, perseverance on the course and a memorable race,” Degtyarev wrote on the Telegram channel.
The Silk Road Rally crosses Russia and Mongolia and ends on July 15 in Ulaanbaatar. The total length of the race will be 5,243 km, the length of the special stages will be 2,992 km.
