Russell wins British Grand Prix qualifying, Mercedes scores one-two

Season leader Max Verstappen is only fourth

Pilot Mercedes George Russell became the winner of the qualification at his home British Grand Prixwhich takes place at the Silverstone circuit.

The Briton completed the qualifying lap in 1:25.819 minutes. Mercedes scored a double in qualifying – second place went to another British driver Lewis Hamilton, who was 0.171 seconds behind his teammate.

The top ten also included Lando Norris (McLaren), Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Nico Hulkenberg (Haas), Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), Alexander Albon (Williams) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin).

Let us recall that Russell won the previous Austrian Grand Prix. The current world champion Verstappen is leading the personal standings. The British Grand Prix will take place on July 7. The race starts at 17:00.
