GAZ Raid Sport team driver Alexey Ignatov, after completing the second stage of the Silk Way rally marathon, said that he did not encounter the problem of tall grass and navigation, as other riders had already said.
The second stage of the Silk Road International Rally took place on Saturday on the Tomsk – Barnaul route. In the overall standings of off-road vehicles, Ignatov’s crew took second place.
— It turned out to be a simple day, quite fast. It hadn’t rained for a long time, the road was dry, there were only puddles in the narrow forest areas. Driving in the rain is fun; where there is water, there is so much of it. Sometimes it is fun to ride in the mud, but not the whole stage.
— Many people complained about the tall grass. Did it bother you?
– What kind of grass is there? 10 trucks passed us, there was nothing left, the road was clear. We had no problems with the grass or navigation. Everything is fine with the car too. “We want to finish first, to be as high as possible in our ranking,” the correspondent reports, according to Ignatov’s words.
The Silk Road Rally crosses Russia and Mongolia and ends on July 15 in Ulaanbaatar. The total length of the race will be 5,243 km, the length of the special stages will be 2,992 km.
