Nikolaev said he miraculously avoided a head-on collision with Vyazovich at the Silk Way rally.

Team leader and driver”KAMAZ-master » Eduard Nikolayev said that during the third stage of the Silk Way rally marathon, his car nearly had an accident, avoiding a head-on collision with a Belarusian Sergei Vyazovich from MAZ-SPORTAuto.

The third stage of the Silk Way Rally took place on Sunday on the Barnaul – Gorno-Altaisk route.

— Today we started behind Vyazovich. The start was fast and rally-like. Then we headed into the thick of the forest, where there were very hilly roads. We heard an emergency signal and saw that Sergei Vyazovich was standing. We stopped and he was removing a tree from the road. This is not a very good situation to check the route, but the tree could have fallen an hour before the passage.

Sergei moved the tree, we acted like gentlemen: we didn’t pass him, we waited until he got into the car and drove away. Then he drove away from us in the dust. My co-driver orders me to turn right at the fork – I press the brakes, and there the tape is stretched. We continue, but the route no longer matches. After another 2 kilometers, Vyazovich flies towards us – miraculously we split up! We already thought that we would all crash.

Where there was a tape, there was a point. I don’t know why the organizers blocked the route. And all the participants began to return past the canal, because there was no other way. We quickly got our bearings, entered the forest and there we found a small narrow path, caught a point and barely turned around and went to the finish. We will find out what happened and whose fault it was. The situation was very dangerous, “the correspondent reports, based on Nikolaev’s words.

The Silk Road Rally crosses Russia and Mongolia and ends on July 15 in Ulaanbaatar. The total length of the race will be 5,243 km, the length of the special stages will be 2,992 km.
