The third stage of the Silk Way Rally took place on Sunday on the Barnaul – Gorno-Altaisk route.
— Today we started behind Vyazovich. The start was fast and rally-like. Then we headed into the thick of the forest, where there were very hilly roads. We heard an emergency signal and saw that Sergei Vyazovich was standing. We stopped and he was removing a tree from the road. This is not a very good situation to check the route, but the tree could have fallen an hour before the passage.
Sergei moved the tree, we acted like gentlemen: we didn’t pass him, we waited until he got into the car and drove away. Then he drove away from us in the dust. My co-driver orders me to turn right at the fork – I press the brakes, and there the tape is stretched. We continue, but the route no longer matches. We quickly got our bearings, entered the forest and there we found a small narrow path, caught a point and barely turned around and went to the finish.
