A Belarusian rider made up for lost time on the third stage of the Silk Way Rally.

The Board of Sports Commissioners (BCS) has approved the application of the MAZ-SPORTauto crew Sergei Vyazovich to make up for lost time during the third stage of the Silk Road marathon rally, reports a correspondent.

The third stage of the Silk Way Rally took place on Sunday on the Barnaul – Gorno-Altaisk route. After the finish, Viazovich said that he intends to appeal to the judges asking them to restore the time lost through no fault of his due to a tree blocking the road. In addition, the Belarusian driver narrowly avoided a head-on collision with the crew of Eduard Nikolaev from KAMAZ-master after the riders were unable to complete the course due to adhesive tape stretched across the road.

— KSK has taken into account the statement of crew #301 that on SS3 in the area of road book position 109.44 km, the turn on a poorly visible road was blocked by the organiser’s tape, which caused a significant loss of time searching for the correct route. After hearing the route steward, who confirmed the erroneous blocking of the road with restrictive tape, after studying the data from the judge’s GPS devices and the video recording of this incident, KSK, after discussion, has decided: to compensate crew #301 for the time of 2 minutes 18 seconds, the KSK message states.

The KSK will make a final decision on the incidents that occurred during the third stage of the rally later.

The Silk Road Rally crosses Russia and Mongolia and ends on July 15 in Ulaanbaatar. The total length of the race will be 5,243 km, the length of the special stages will be 2,992 km.
