The fifth stage of the rally took place on Tuesday on the route Kosh-Agach (Russia) – Khovd (Mongolia).
— Today was a difficult track at high speed. We need to analyze why we capsized. Yes, the speed increased, you have to keep the pace, but it doesn’t always work. After capsizing, they continued on their way. We drove and felt that the traction was going somewhere. Later, we examined the car and realized that of the four drive wheels, only the front one was driven. In such a situation, the task was to reach the finish line.
The route map showed a test: a small, rocky, snow-cleared climb, and a jeep got stuck there. We tried to move it, but it didn’t work. We started to back up and hit a huge rock – and the trap closed. They took out airbags and ladders and, with small movements, moved the car about half a meter.
The car was inspected in the neutralization zone. We decided that we would most likely have to drive on the asphalt. We arrived at the bivouac. Now I feel upset, it’s a pity that it didn’t work out (to play well). “Everything is fine with the crew members,” a correspondent reports, according to Karginov’s words.
The Silk Road Rally crosses Russia and Mongolia and ends on July 15 in Ulaanbaatar.
