G‑Drive Racing Team Driver Romain Rousinov After finishing the sixth stage of the Silk Way marathon rally, he said he could have gotten stuck in the sand without the help of his navigator Dmitry Pavlov.
The sixth stage of the Silk Way Rally on the Khovd-Khovd route ended in Mongolia on Wednesday. Anastasia Nifontova (G-Drive Racing) won the stage, Rusinov came second. In the overall standings, Andrey Novikov (G-Force Motorsport) leads, Rusinov is second and Nifontova is third.
— Once again we had to replace the rear wheel. There was a slow puncture, at first the variator belt began to heat up, so we had to slow down – we had too much power, but the variator was heating up. After refueling, the tire was changed. These were the first sands in my life, but without Dima we would have stayed there, “the correspondent reports, citing Rusinov’s words.
Nifontova said she had a problem with the fuel pump and only reached the finish line by a miracle.
— For us, the stage turned out to be mediocre. Again, we encountered a fuel problem, as before. Apparently there is a problem with floating at the fuel pump. We miraculously crossed the sand, and then the pump stopped working. And we also miraculously reached the finish line, – Nifontova said.
The Silk Road Rally crosses Russia and Mongolia and ends on July 15 in Ulaanbaatar. The total length of the race is 5,243 km, the length of the special stages is 2,992 km.
