Racing driver Nikita Bedrin told how he started his sports career in Belgorod and always dreamed of competing in Formula 1.
Bedrin, who races under an Italian license, represents the PHM AIX Racing team in Formula 3. On Saturday, the 18-year-old driver won the sprint race at the championship round in Hungary.
— There is a karting track in Belgorod and we decided to try it. I was five or six years old. I came third, I liked it. It was good for the first race. From that moment on I started studying. I think Italy is the center of karting because all the main races are held here.
When good results came in Russia, my current manager Petr Mikhailovich Aleshin drew attention to me. We decided to try racing, the result was good, I continued to go karting here, then moved to Formula.
“Since childhood, my biggest dream was to get into Formula 1. If not Formula 1, then Formula E or IndyCar. Even somewhere close to Formula 1, it will already be a very big achievement,” Bedrin said on the “Loud” show on .
In 2023, Bedrin made his debut season in Formula 3 as a member of the Jenzer Motorsport team and took 18th place in the individual competition. His best results were two third places – in Saturday’s sprint in Hungary and in Sunday’s race in Spa, Belgium.
The Formula 3 championship round took place in Hungary on the same dates as the Formula 1 Grand Prix, where Australian Oscar Piastri took his first victory.
