Tensions are rising between the Argentine Automobile Club and the Road Tourism Corridors Association, with a new decision made by the first of the institutions.
Since the end of 2023, motorsport has been plunged into a tense leadership conflict between the two most important entities, the Automobile Club Argentino (ACA) and the Road Tourism Corridors Association (ACTC). The order of the national motor sport was changed by a controversial attitude of some of the institutions.
The ACTC began a path of expansion and began to include, first, the categories that were under the orbit of the ACA and then federations.. Contrary to what was established by the International Sports Code of the International Automobile Federation, the Teceista house expanded its inspection map and with it, broke the tacit agreement made in 2001, when there was a similar clash between the two entities.
2024 was presented as a year of many movements within motorsports at the management level, since the sudden growth of the ACTC was added to the change of command in the ACA, where Mr. César Carman (h) took over as the new president of mother house and Eugenio Breard began his path to the head of the Automobile Sports Commission (CDA).
More than two months after the start of his administration, which began in May, Lic. Caesar Carman exclusively chatted with Carbureting and established his position regarding the problem that is now forming a rift within motorsports. The new president spoke about the work of the CDA and clarified the relationship that exists today with the institution led by Hugo Mazzacane.
“There is no hostility from ACA to ACTC. We understand that what they are doing is very good, and they have been able to do good business in the country.”said Carmán, adding: “I believe that when you are a judge and a party, problems arise. “When the person who arranges and has to supervise has a conflict of interest.”
In the same line, he emphasized that the activity carried out by the Caballito neighborhood entity is illegal because it has no official endorsement: “We have delegated sporting power and we are basically in charge of administration, that’s all, nothing else. So, if in this case the ACTC wants to cover other categories, in our opinion, that is not correct and that is why the we call the secret races because they are not supervised by the entity that has to do this, which is the CDA”.
Furthermore, he explicitly excludes that this conflict has political meanings: “I also heard some comments in the media that politics got involved in this conflict. The only thing I can tell you is that, because of the ACA, this is not a political issue. We are celebrating 120 years, we have done this all our lives, it is not a political thing.
Without rapprochement between the parties involved, problem solving is far from being achieved through dialogue, so the legal example This appears to be the only possible way to end this story. “We are studying it. Maybe there will be some action, we can’t sit idly by either. “I am not a specialist in legal terms, but some actions that mark this story and these issues that are outside of a framework that reassures the pilots,” Carman admitted.
Finally, the ACA president was forthright in pointing out that the initiative to re-establish a friendly bond had to come from Mazzacane’s side. “No dialogue. Hugo Mazzacane will call me tomorrow and I will talk to him. I won’t call him because that’s not appropriate. “They are the ones who broke the balance.”he concluded.
