Oliver Oakes has replaced Bruno Famin as head of the Alpin Formula 1 team.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Oliver Oakes as our new team leader,” Alpin’s press office said in a statement.
Oakes, 36, becomes the youngest of the current Royal Racing team principals and will take up his new role after the season’s summer break.
In 2015, Oakes founded the Hitech Grand Prix team, which competes in Formula 2 and Formula 3. In his youth, he was professionally involved in motorsport and was a world champion in karting (2005). Oakes has previously collaborated with Russian driver Nikita Mazepin and was his manager.
This season, Alpine’s main drivers are Frenchmen Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.
