Spanish motorcycle racer Javier Alvarez has died in an accident while competing in the La Banese Grand Prix, Marca reports.
The 47-year-old Galician was involved in an accident while training for the race in the municipality of León.
According to eyewitnesses, Álvarez lost control on one of the track’s corners and ended up crashing into a protective fence.
Doctors tried to resuscitate the athlete, but were unable to save him.
After this sad news, the race organizers, in collaboration with other runners, decided that the event would not be canceled.
