On August 20-21, Moscow Raceway will host the 4th stage of the SMP RSKG G-Drive series – the Festival of Speed, which will combine races from all classes of the Russian Championship and Cup, as well as the RAF Cup , with a rich program of shows.
For the first time in a season, all nine races will converge on the same circuit for 11 mass start races – and two record lap time sessions driven by radically modified SMP Time Attack Unlim cars.
The main attention will be focused on the most powerful G-Drive body categories of the SMP RSKG – the SMP GT4 Russia classification, in which the Mercedes-AMG GT4 supercars are pitted against the Porsche 718 Cayman, Toyota Supra, BMW M4 and KTM X – Bow, as well as the Touring classification, where 350 LADA Vesta successfully compete with the Audi RS3 and Hyundai i30 N. Both are held according to the international rules adopted in the championships of different countries.
The CN Sport Prototype class attracts with unusual cars created specifically for racing – these are “Russian Lotuses” bearing the name Shortcut, large-scale copies of American and Soviet cars of the 1940s Legends and Mitjet 2L prototypes stylized as well-known brands.
As well as competing in the general races, Shortcut cars will compete in speed in a separate competition – the new G-Drive Cup Race Cup, which takes place as part of the SMP RSKG’s G-Drive Race Weekends. This will be the second stage of the Cup. The third, final, will take place in September on Igora Drive near St. Petersburg.
The nostalgic vibe is caused by Zhiguli, featured in the SMP Historic Cup retroscoring – but they drive no slower than modern mass models of the S1600 class.
The Touring Light category attracts with the struggle of the latest Volkswagen Polo liftbacks with turbo engines, which are successfully fought by atmospheric competitors. And the Super-production class is interesting because of the struggle between LADA Vesta and foreign cars, including Subaru BRZ, Volkswagen Scirocco and Honda Civic.
The show program will give new emotions every day. The Tuning Fest will take place on Saturday, an exotic car festival, during which owners of modified cars will present their projects to the jury. The day will end with a cover band concert.
On Sunday, tuning cars will be in the paddock – and you can get to know them better, and the holiday will end with a performance by a DJ who will play an original set.
Both days there will be a children’s area with animators and face painting. You can recharge your batteries in the food trucks.
All spectators will have a unique opportunity to touch real racing cars and communicate with their drivers during a lunchtime pit lane walk. The lucky winners of the competitions will also be able to enter the starting line before the start of the race. Excursions to the pits of the racing teams will also be organised.
Among the guests of the Festival of Speed are well-known drivers from the SMP Racing program: the first Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix winner Vitaly Petrov and a participant in the North American Formula IndyCar series Mikhail Aleshin.
You can not only get an autograph from them but also battle it out in the SMP Racing Esports area of racing simulators behind the wheel of a BR03 virtual sports prototype.
The unique sports prototype BR03 itself will also be showcased at the Festival of Speed.
