Magnussen disqualified at Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Dane exceeds penalty points limit for year after collision with Gasly at Monza

Pilot Haas Kevin Magnussen will be forced to miss Azerbaijan Grand PrixThe next two penalty points that the Dane received during today’s race in Monza were critical for him and led to his disqualification for the next round.

Recall that Magnussen finished in the qualifying zone at the Italian Grand Prix, closing the final top 10. However, during the race he committed a violation – he “cut off” Pierre Gasly from the Alpine team, trying to overtake his competitor on the inside of the fourth turn. As a result, a collision occurred, for which Magnussen was found “entirely guilty”.

Thus, the Haas driver received two penalty points, which exceeded the “critical mass” for him. The Scandinavian driver managed to collect 12 penalty points in 12 months – according to the Formula 1 regulations, this means an automatic disqualification of the driver for the next Grand Prix. Now Haas will miss the stage in Baku, the main race of which will take place on September 15.

Recall that Charles Leclerc triumphed in Monza, taking his second victory of the season and the sixth in his career. The current champion Max Verstappen finished sixth, but remained the overall leader.
