F1: “It wasn’t hard to stop Hamilton”

Pierre Gasly, driver of AlphaTauri, was able to hold the position alongside Lewis Hamilton during the Emilia Romagna GP.

During the Formula 1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton ended a difficult weekend with the Mercedes team.

This is the rivalry

One from Mercedes could barely qualify for 13th position (from Q3) and then 14th in Sprint and in Sunday’s race, without getting positions, beyond the abandonments that have.

In the race on Sunday, Hamilton fell to Pierre Gasly after changing a tire and although he seemed to be running better, the Mercedes driver did not overtake the AlphaTauri.

When Hamilton tried to take advantage of DRS, Gasly also activated it because he was behind Albon’s Williams and that was enough to hold him. Giving details of his career, the Frenchman said: “He was stuck behind me, I was stuck behind Williams. The road is only one train”.

And he added: “It’s not a particularly exciting career and it’s pretty frustrating. Even with DRS, we were unable to look back and try to prepare for a move.”.

Asked about the direct rivalry with Hamilton and whether it was difficult for him to tolerate it, Gasly said: “I wouldn’t say it’s easy, but it’s also not hard to keep Hamilton behind. I think I was just as frustrated as he was because even with DRS you can’t overtake vehicles.”.
