Norris, despite winning pole position, was unable to close the gap to the champion in the individual competition
Pilot Ferrari Charles Leclerc became the winner US Grand Prix in Austin.
For the Monegasque, this triumph was the third of the season – after his native Monaco Grand Prix and his native Italian Grand Prix – and the eighth in his entire Formula 1 career.
The winner’s podium was shared by his Ferrari partner Carlos Sainz Jr., as well as the current champion and overall leader Max Verstappen (Red Bull).
The Dutchman went without victory for the eighth race in a row, but he completed the minimum task – he did not allow himself to get ahead of his closest pursuer in the championship standings, Lando Norris from McLaren. The Briton, although he started from pole position, finished only fourth.
The top 10 also included Oscar Piastri (McLaren), George Russell (Mercedes), Sergio Perez (Red Bull), Nico Hulkenberg (Haas), Liam Lawson (RB) and Franco Colapinto (Williams).
Let us note that for Lawson this race was the first of the season – it had previously become known that the reserve pilot of RB Honda would replace the Australian Daniel Ricciardo until the end of the season. Earlier, Williams made a similar castling, replacing Logan Sargent with Colapinto.
The next Formula 1 round will take place in Mexico City next week. The main race will take place on October 27.
