Ian Reutemann completed a great refueling job with Toyota Gazoo Racing, led the field and achieved victory in the Top Race final at Viedma racetrack. Di Palma and Ciarrocchi completed the podium.

Strategy is key

The final began where Josito Di Palma led the group, followed by Barrio, Azar, Stefano Di Palma and Guerra. Moments later, the champion had more than one of the stops and grabbed the leader, who lost positions. The new pointer is the Pinamar pilot.

They then went into the pits to refuel Guerra, Stefano Di Palma, Giustozzi. Then Josito Di Palma, Aldrighetti and also Azar did the same. The leader was still Barrio, accompanied by Reutemann, and De Brabandere, who did not stop.

In the fifth lap, Azar suffered and was followed by contact with Josito Di Palma. Reutemann, Sapag, Palau and Chiriano then went to the pits to refuel. Moments later, Barrio fulfilled the requirement of the competition and returned to the track in second place behind Reutemann, who was the new leader.

On the tenth lap, the Safety Car entered to remove the vehicles of Gastaldi and Leguizamón. After two laps, the final was re -launched on a par with Reutemann in first place, joined by Barrio, Ciarrocchi, Guerra and Josito Di Palma.

With 14 more minutes, Ciarrocchi was given a 10-second false start penalty. In the 18th lap, Guerra lost two spots to Di Palma and Aldrighetti. For his part, Barrio returned to the pits to finish refueling.

At first the traffic light flickered and because of this situation, the Stewards decided to withdraw the 10 second penalty from Ciarrocchi and with this change Cordovan returned to second place. Then, “Fefo” Di Palma spun after the brush in Palau and fell behind.

In the end, Josito Di Palma sent out in the first corner, passed Ciarrocchi and jumped to second place. In other words, it was a victory for Reutemann at Viedma, who were joined by Josito Di Palma, Ciarrocchi, Aldrighetti and Lucas Guerra who completed the best five.

In the championship, Ciarrocchi leads with 79 points, followed by Reutemann with 72 and Azar with 69. The next Top Race date is on May 15 at Neuquén racetrack.
