MotoGP officially announces that the final stage World Cup 2024 road-ring motorcycle racing will take place instead Valencia V Barcelona.
The Grand Prix will be hosted by the Barcelona-Catalunya track. The event dates remain unchanged – it will take place from November 15th to 17th.
Let us remind you that the 2024 Valencia Grand Prix in MotoGP has been officially canceled due to the consequences of the DANA storm. A powerful natural disaster struck Spain from the southeast, causing tornadoes and hurricanes in some regions. Valencia was hit the hardest by the storm; the storm also affected Andalusia and southern Catalonia. More than 200 people died as a result of the storm.
Due to the consequences of the storm, several La Liga football matches (Primera, Segunda), including the Valencia-Real Madrid match, were postponed. The Real Madrid Foundation, together with the Red Cross, launched a fundraising campaign on November 1 to help those affected by the disaster. The Blancos themselves made a donation of one million euros.
MotoGP, in turn, also organized a fundraiser from its relief funds, as well as from fans and organizations involved in motorsports, to help those affected by the DANA storm.
The organization managed to quickly agree with the Barcelona authorities to move the competition stage to the capital of Catalonia. It was called the “Solidarity Grand Prix”.
The Barcelona round will be the 20th and final of the 2024 MotoGP season. The leader of the overall standings is Spaniard Jorge Martin, 24 points ahead of Ducati’s teammate Francesco Bagnaia.
