Belgian Neuville became WRC champion for the first time in his career

The long-awaited victory went to Thierry thanks to the fact that his competitor Tänak withdrew from the race at the last race of the season

Belgian racer Thierry Neuville won the championship for the first time in his career rally WRC.

The Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT driver (along with co-driver Martijn Wiedege) won the 2024 season in dramatic style. At the final stage (Japanese Grand Prix), another contender for the title, Estonian Ott Tänak (also a representative of the Hyundai team), suffered an accident, which allowed the 36-year-old Belgian to triumph.

Neuville walked for a long time and systematically towards this success. From 2013 to 2019, he became WRC vice-champion five times, and already in the 2020s he finished third in the individual competition three times in a row.

The championship title was won for the first time by a representative of Belgium. The trophy also became a premiere for the Hyundai Motorsport team. As for the team competition, despite the current success of its competitor, Toyota continues to lead.
