The Argentine duo celebrated the second date of TCR South America.

The duo of Fabricio Pezzini and Javier Merlo, aboard PMO Motorsport Lynk & Co, won the TCR South America endurance race at the Interlagos circuit, the scene of the second date of the season. Pedro Aizza/Rodrigo Sperafico and Juan Ángel Rosso/Ricardo Risatti finished on the podium.
An overwhelming career
In the beginning, Guga Lima took the lead, while Ricardo Risatti made a poor start and fell to fourth place. José Manuel Sapag jumped to second place, Fabricio Pezzini settled in third and Pedro Aizza in fourth. For his part, Fabio Casagrande fell into the classifier.
The race was 40 minutes from the end, Pezzini capitalized on Lima’s loss of speed and became the new leader. Aizza also claimed the Cupra of the W2 Pro GP and Risatti defeated Sapag to become fourth after being delayed to fifth place.
Half an hour before the checkered flag, drivers go into the pits to swap drivers and tires. Pezzini left Lynk & Co to Javier Merlo, Risatti to Juan Ángel Rosso, Lima to Raphael Reis, Franco Farina to Gastón Iansa, Gabriel Luquiños to Vitor Gensz, Adalberto Baptista to Sergio Ramalho and Pedro Aizza to Rodrigo Sperafico.
At the end of the mandatory requirement, Merlo leads the competition, followed by Rosso, Reis and Sperafico. Minutes later, Casagrande, Guilherme Reischl and Renato Braga passed the boxes.
In the latter part, Braga broke the bonnet, Juan Manuel Casella walked away and Raphael Teixeira was left aside, after going through pits with problems with his Alfa Romeo Giuletta.
In the final minutes, Merlo maintained the difference with Rosso, who watched Sperafico approach after leaving Reis. Aizza’s visitor ran very fast and when the test was over she surpassed Villa Carlos Paz’s credit to grab the second place.
In this way, Pezzini/Merlo got the win, accompanied by Aizza/Sperafico and Rosso/Risatti. On the other hand, they finished Sapag/Ciarrocchi, Reis/Lima, Lusquiños/Genz, Farina/Iansa, Maglione/Rama, Reis/Papazissis and Casella/Balbi.
The fourth TCR South America date is next June 5 at Goiania racetrack.
