The solemn ceremony of the start of the rally dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Russian Athletes’ Union (RCA) took place in the building of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in Moscow.
The event was attended by the President of the ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov the president of the RCC, David Musulbes, as well as many veterans of Russian sport.
The expedition, organized by the RCC, will last until September 15 and will follow the route Moscow – Tambov – Voronezh – Balashov – Saratov – Volgograd – Elista – Astrakhan – Moscow. Meetings of famous veterans, Olympic champions with young athletes will be organized within the framework of the rally.
– Everything that happens around the Olympic movement is ours, ours. Here are gathered different athletes representing different generations of national sports. We’ll be celebrating a lot of different birthdays this year, but it just goes to show that we’re one big family. Today’s rainy weather should be a success for the road: because any road that starts in the rain must lead to success. You have to go on the road with friends, and for each participant it is a real pleasure. I wish all participants of the rally to experience this happiness,” Pozdnyakov said at the ceremony.
