The Russian Drift Series (RDS GP) Grand Prix returns to Moscow at the track where the 2022 season began. On the weekend of September 10-11, Moscow Raceway will host the sixth round of the country’s premier drift championship.
The track near Volokolamsk is well known to pilots, but now athletes are waiting for a new layout. The peculiarity of the evaluated section of the GP RDS at Moscow Raceway is a second streamlined bend with a variable radius, which everyone is used to passing in the direction of the track, counterclockwise. This time you will have to go in the opposite direction, which means that not only the trajectory will change, but also the rhythm of the passage.
Since the configuration of the section of track judged will be new for all drivers and teams, training will play a special role and surprises are to be expected in qualifying and in the duet. You can watch the entire drift weekend in full format both from the stands of the Moscow region autodrome and live video broadcasts on the RDS TV platform, where qualifying and paired races will be broadcast, from the top 32 to the final.
The favorites are three stage winners
Three stage winners of the 2022 season will start the weekend at Moscow Raceway in the lead. Aiming to increase the number of victories Arkady Tsaregradtsev of FailCrew Darkseid, who won the stage won in Krasnoyarsk. And Damir Idiyatulin (SINTEC FRESH AUTO DRIFT) and Georgy Chivchyan (Forward Auto), who have already won two victories in the season, will not only strive to win, but also to get ahead in points in the battle for the championship. title of the 2022 season.
However, Roman Tivodar (Forward Auto) and Evgeny Losev (SINTEC FRESH AUTO DRIFT), who close the top 5 of the individual classification, can intervene in this battle. Leonid Schneider shouldn’t be dismissed either – the young Forward Auto driver has already scored podiums and proven he’s ready to fight for his first career RDS GP stage victory.
Charles NG again on Flanker F
The brilliant debut of the experienced Charles Ng at the wheel of the Russian Flanker F hypercar in Krasnoyarsk and a confident performance in St. Petersburg showed that this duo is capable of high results. In Moscow, the pilot of STAR РЁR STARS AIMOL will fight again on Sergei Kabargin’s Flanker F, which means that brilliant performances await us!
Sergey Kabargin himself will bring another Flanker F to the track, so two Russian drift hypercars will race at Moscow Raceway.
Magomed Omarov and Fedor Dzezhits switch cars
After a spectacular fire during the previous stage, due to engine failure, Magomed Omarov was forced to change cars. In the colors of LUKOIL Racing Drift Team, two Toyota Chasers will appear simultaneously on the Moscow Raceway – Omarov will join Grigory Gusev, who constantly drives this model. The most interesting will be to watch the passages of the two pilots.
Moscow Sport’s Fedor Dzezhits will drive a Toyota Mark II instead of a Nissan Silvia S15 for the second round in a row. Fixing the technical issues with the coupe proved more difficult than preparing the saloon for the demands of the RDS GP, and the driver will continue to fight for points on the new car. And for Nikolai Gorkovenko (Carville Racing) this weekend will be the second in the new BMW F22. After his racing debut at Igora Drive, the driver continues to get comfortable behind the wheel of a coupe, and we can safely expect better results.
It will also be interesting to follow Nikita Shikov (Carville Racing), as this stage will become his home and his Toyota GR Supra. As well as for the founder of SINTEC FRESH AUTO DRIFT, Denis Migal, who at the opening of the season at Moscow Raceway scored two qualifying heats for “90+” points. The performances of Fyodor Vorobyov at the cult VAZ-2015 and other Muscovites who will try to give their all in front of their native stands promise to be brilliant.
RDS GP-2022 Referee Team
The composition of the Russian Drift Series Grand Prix judges remains unchanged. In 2022, qualifying runs and pair races are evaluated by RDS manager Dmitry Dobrovolsky and pilots Anton Novikov (2021 RDS West vice-champion, 2020 RDS West award winner) and Maxim Akhtyamov (school director drift MRE, vice-champion RDS-Ural, Champion ULD and winner) circuit race “Classic 1000” in the general classification).
