MotoGP: Bagnaia achieved pole position in Jerez

Qualification for the Spanish Grand Prix took place at the Jerez de la Frontera Circuit, the sixth MotoGP date of the year.

Zarco in Q1

After free training sessions in which Fabio Quartararo and Francesco Bagnaia were presented as candidates, the classification began in Q1. There, riders like Alex Rins (head of the tournament along with Quartararo) and Johann Zarco, the last poleman in the category, had to pass.

In the first qualifying cut, Johann Zarco took the best time, closing the lap on the last attempt (1.37.003). Second was Marco Bezzecchi on the Ducati of the Valentino Rossi team, so both riders advanced directly into Q2.

Those eliminated and will start in 13th place tomorrow are: Pol Espargaró, Alex Rins, Brad Binder, Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Remy Gardner, Stefan Bradl, Miguel Oliveira, Alex Márquez, Andrea Dovizioso, Lorenzo Savadori and Darryn Binder .

Bagnaia flew to reach the pole

Minutes later, Q2 began, defining the starting grid for Sunday. In the first minutes of the session, Jorge Martín fell to low speed on turn 1, while Francesco Bagnaia led the official Ducati and was followed on the lap by Marc Márquez.

Quartararo dropped the time mid -session to jump to first position, but shortly after the end “Pecco” Bagnaia closed out a good lap to take pole position (1.36.170). Fabio Quartararo was second, Aleix Espargaró third, Jack Miller fourth, Marc Marquez fifth and they closed out the top 10: Johann Zarco, Takaaki Nakagami, Marco Bezzecchi, Joan Mir, who fell at the end of the session and Jorge Martín.

Tomorrow at 09:00 am (Argentine time) the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix will be held.
