The national franchise adds its fourth consecutive defeat in the continental tournament and remains in fifth position.
The first round of Super Rugby Americas ends with Selknam needing to improve to secure a place in the semi-finals of the tournament. Although they still have six games to play With two teams practically classified (Dogos XV and Peñarol), the Chileans will have to make a step forward to close the gap against Pampas and Yacare XV.
Yesterday the latter were Selknam’s rivals in a game with many interruptions, where dynamic play could not be seen and the nationals fell further. 21-11 was the victory of the Paraguayan team which is now in fourth position.
The record of the nationals (who are fifth in the continental tournament) is not the best, since they have only two victories and suffered four defeats so far in the tournament. Figures which in any case do not worry the insiders of the team, because leaders, players and coaches know that these moments are of competition, but also of physical preparation for the World Cup in France.
Regarding the game against Yacare, Selknam was still down on the scoreboard, suffering the first try against when they had just played five minutes. The annotations came thanks to a try by Rodrigo Fernández and two shots by Santiago Videla who with his second celebration tried to put uncertainty when there were twenty minutes left on the clock.
Now Selknam must back on the courts on April 22, when they face the American Raptors in the first match of the second round of the tournament.
