Dogs prefer electric cars. A study confirms it.

Zero-emission cars are not only environmentally friendly, but also pet friendly. Read why below.

There are more and more dog lovers in the world, who like to go out everywhere with their four-legged friend, sometimes on foot and sometimes in the car. And if they appreciate having their faces marked by the speed and the wind, there are also many of them on board.

Although their ears are so tuned—four times more than a human’s—it gives them a survival advantage; In urban areas, with the high noise pollution from motorized vehicles, it can become a nuisance for your sense of perception.

With the idea of understanding canines and their behavior on board a little more, a group of researchers from the University of Lincoln, UK, conducted a study which basically concluded that electric cars are much friendlier around them. .

The study was conducted with 20 dogs, equipped with heart rate monitors, during 10-minute journeys in diesel and then electric cars.

They all did the same closed circuit -with an hour’s rest between rounds- in the same vehicles, which were not disclosed, focusing only on the animal’s reactions to the noise caused by the diesel engine and electric propulsion.

For example, Dr. Daniel Mills, professor of veterinary behavioral medicine at the University of Lincoln, found that dogs felt more stressed in diesel cars.

50% of dogs became more agitated in diesel cars long before the middle of the journey. Additionally, dog owners reported excessive excitement (58%), anxiety (48%), and nausea (44%) when riding their dog.

In the comparison between diesel and electric cars, they said pets felt calmer (39%), were calmer (43%), less anxious (42%) and whined less (45%) in these latest.

This inclination of dogs to electric cars is due to the fact that in this category of vehicle there are no jerks, vibrations, noise, while at the same time driving comfort is much more comfortable. So, in addition to being environmentally friendly, they are also friendly to our pets. Another plus point for them.
